The lecture will be held on Monday, 9th October 2017 at 16.00 h

in the “Center” hall of Hotel Lev (13th floor) at Vošnjakova 1, Ljubljana.

 

Prof. Dr. Ljubomir Danailov Frčkoski is professor of public international law and international relations at the University "St. Cyril and Methodius" in Skopje. He served as Minister of the Interior and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Macedonia. He was a presidential candidate. He is one of the most active and recognizable intellectuals on the Macedonian public scene.

 

After several years of political turbulence, the Republic of Macedonia received a new government on May 31, 2017, led by Prime Minister Zoran Zaev (SDSM).

 

In his lecture dr. Frčkoski will speak about the current situation in Macedonia and its position in the new regional context in the Western Balkans, with emphasis on NATO and EU membership. After the parliamentary elections, Macedonia is still waiting for local elections, which will be held on October 15, 2017.

 

The lecture will be delivered in the south Slavic languages. The lecture will be followed by a discussion with the guest lecturer moderated by Assist. Prof. Dr. Zijad Bećirović and Prof. Dr. Ernest Petrič.
