Mangala Samaraweera is Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka since 12 January 2015. He was on this position also during 2005-2007. He comes from well-known political family from the south of the island. He served as minister in three governments (as minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Media and Information, and Aviation as well as minister for Urban Development, Housing and Construction).  


Minister Samaraweera will present his views on some key issues in Sri Lanka’s foreign policy and the challenges that Sri Lanka is facing today. He will also talk about the status of the democracy, reconciliation and development on Sri Lanka and about the vision for the new Sri Lanka.


Before the lecture a short price giving ceremony will be held. Prof. Dr. Ernest Petrič, Vice president of the Advisory Board of IFIMES and former president of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia will give a price to the distinguished guest for his contribution to the reconciliation and coexisting of different groups in Sri Lanka.


The lecture will be delivered in English and will be followed by a discussion with the guest lecturer which will be moderated by Dr. Zijad Bećirović and Bakhatyar Aljaf.
