NATIONAL MINORITIES AND THEIR ROLE IN CROATIA'S EU ACCESSION PROCESS

In the framework of the "West Balkans and the EU" lecture cycle, IFIMES –The International Institute for Middle-East and Balkan Studies invites you kindly to take part at the lecture entitled "NATIONAL MINORITIES AND THEIR ROLE IN CROATIA'S EU ACCESSION PROCESS" which will be held on Thursday, 5 February 2009 at 15.00 h in the Auditorium of Center Evropa at Dalmatinova 4 in Ljubljana

The lecture on Croatian model for the participation of national minorities in the social and political life and on the role of national minorities in Croatia's process of EU and NATO accession will be held by Dr. Šemso Tanković, Chairman of the Deputy Club of Minority Rights in the Parliament of the Republic of Croatia.

Dr. Tanković represents the Albanian, Bosniak, Montenegrin, Macedonian and Slovenian national minorities in the Croatian Parliament. He will present his initiative for the reinstatement of national minorities in the preamble of the Croatian Constitution and comment on the current events in Croatia and on Croatian-Slovenian relations.

The lecture will be given in the Croatian language and will be followed by a discussion with Dr. Tanković which will be moderated by Mr. Bakhatyar Aljaf and Mr. Zijad Bećirović, M.A.
