Social changes in Slovenia - where to start?

In the framework of the "Slovenia and the EU" lecture cycle

the International Institute for Middle-East and Balkan Studies (IFIMES)

invites You kindly to the round table

entitled

"SOCIAL CHANGES IN SLOVENIA
- WHERE TO START?"

which will be held on Thursday, 13 December 2012 at 14.00 h
in Hotel "Lev" at Vošnjakova ulica 1, Ljubljana
(Conference Room "Grad", 13th Floor).

The current situation in Slovenia requires a serious reflection on the future of this country. Events taking place at the local level and mass protests spreading throughout the country have brought to the foreground all the accumulated problems and inappropriate legislative solutions present both in the local government and Slovenian society as a whole. What changes do we need at the local, regional and national level and how to implement them? Where to start with the changes in order to make them efficient? What are the key problems and challenges to be tackled with the aim to overcome the economic and political crisis?

Those and other issues will be discussed at the round table by the following experts:

Dr. Stane Vlaj, university professor, an expert on local and regional self-government
Dr. Urban Vehovar, assistant professor at the Faculty of Education of the University of Primorska
Simona Habič, president of the Integriteta Association - Transparency International Slovenia
Dr. Miloš Senčur, assistant professor at the Faculty of State and European Studies, expert on the legal aspects of local self-government

The round table will be held in the Slovenian language and moderated by Zijad Bećirović.

Attendance is free of charge. Please confirm your participation at telephone number (01) 430 15 33 or at ifimes@ifimes.org .
