In the framework of the visit of Iraqi high-level delegation
the International Institute for Middle-East and Balkan Studies (IFIMES)

invites you to the

PRESS CONFERENCE


which will be delivered by the Minister of Labour and Social Affairs of the Republic of Iraq dr. Nassar Zughaibeur Darbi Al-Rubaiee and MEP Jelko Kacin, member of the EP Delegation for Relations with Iraq.

The press conference will be held on Friday, 5 October 2012 at 12.30 h in Hotel Lev, 13th floor, the Triglav Hall, Vošnjakova 1, 1000 Ljubljana.

From 1 to 7 October 2012, the International Institute for Middle-East and Balkan Studies (IFIMES) from Ljubljana, Slovenia, is hosting Iraqi high-level delegation in the framework of the professional training programme entitled "Experiences of countries in transition and the role of civil society". The high-level delegation is led by dr. Nassar Zughaibeur Darbi Al-Rubaiee, Minister of Labour and Social Affairs of the Republic of Iraq and chairman of the largest party in the Parliament of Iraq. The ten-member delegation is also comprised of the Vice-Chairman of the State Consultation Council of Iraq Mrs. Ibtisam Yousif Muhsin Muhsin and eight general and executive directors of Iraqi ministries.


During the visit to Slovenia dr. Nassar Zughaibeur Darbi Al-Rubaiee met Slovenian Minister of Labour, Family and Social Affairs Andrej Vizjak, Slovenian Minister of Health dr. Tomaž Gantar, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia dr. Gregor Virant, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign policy of National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia Jožef Horvat, President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia dr. Ernest Petrič, Slovenian MEP Jelko Kacin and others. He also visited one of Slovenia's most successful companies GEN-I d.o.o. and the City Municipality of Koper.


At the press conference Minister Al-Rubaiee will talk about his visit which is the highest-level visit of Iraqi representatives in Slovenia since the latter gained independence. Mr. Al-Rubaiee will also speak about current events in Iraq.


Slovenian MEP and member of the EP Delegation for Relations with Iraq Jelko Kacin will talk about EU's co-operation with Iraq which is regarded as the factor of stability in the region.


The press conference will be held in the Slovenian and Arabic language. Interpretation into Slovenian language will be provided.
