Dr. Žiga Turk

Secretary General of the Reflection Group on the Future of Europe ("group of wise men" chaired by Felipe Gonzalez)

The lecture will be held on Wednesday, 16 December 2009, at 16.00 h
in the Auditorium of Center Evropa at Dalmatinova 4 in Ljubljana.

Professor Žiga Turk, Secretary General of the Reflection Group on the Future of Europe ("Gonzalez group of wise men"), will present his views of the short- and long-term challenges of the European Union and the possibilities for their resolving. One of the short-term challenges is obviously the current economic crisis which is closely linked with the reshaping of the economic, social and geopolitical trends. The latter include the rise of Asia, energy and communication revolution and development of conceptual society. At the end of the lecture Prof. Turk will also talk about the position of Slovenia and its response to the current situation.

The lecture will be given in the Slovenian language.

It will be followed by a discussion with the guest which will be moderated by
Zijad Bećirović and Bakhatyar Aljaf.
