Dr. Ernest Petrič elected to the Venice Commission of Council of Europe

 

LJUBLJANA, 29 May 2020The Government of the Republic of Slovenia has appointed the former President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia Prof. Dr. Ernest Petrič as a new member of the Venice Commission. European Commission for Democracy through Law, better known as the Venice Commission, is an advisory body to the Council of Europe on constitutional issues.

 

Dr. Petrič is an eminent expert in international law, diplomat, ambassador, Constitutional Court judge and former president of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia. He is also a member of the UN International lay Commision (ILC), few years ago he was also the president of ILC UN.

 

Dr. Ernest Perič is also a Vice President of the Advisory Board of the International Institute for Middle-East and Balkan Stuies (IFIMES[1]) for many years.
