in the framework of the "EU and the world" cycle

 

entitled

 

Europe facing the challenges of (in)tolerance and (in)security

 

which will be  held on Thursday, 22 January 2015, at 16.00 h,

in the “Grad” hall of Hotel Lev (13th floor) at Vošnjakova 1, Ljubljana.

 

In the aftermath ofrecent events in France and a wave of various religious and other extremists' acts, the world public is dealing with the questions of freedom and tolerance which have opened numerous  discussions regarding the role of religion, society and the state. What challenges lie ahead for the EU and the world and how to find the right answers to prevent intolerance and insecurity that we have witnessed in recent days?  The round table will touch upon the background of the current events and discuss the global politics and interests of individual countries in this context.

 

Those and other issues will be discussed by the following experts:

 

  • Matej Tonin, leader of theNew Slovenia - Christian Democrats (NSi) Deputy Group and Deputy Chair of the Commission for the Supervision of Intelligence and Security Services of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia,
  • Dr. Primož Šterbenc, Assistant Professor at the University of Primorska,
  • Ervin Hladnik Milharčič, a journalist with the Slovenian dailynewspaper Delo and former long-standingMiddle East correspondent.

 

The round table will be held in the Slovenian language and moderated by Zijad Bećirović.
