Minister of Security BiH visited IFIMES

MINISTER OF SECURITY BiH VISITED IFIMES

LJUBLJANA, 30 September 2011 - Directors of the International Institute for Middle-East and Balkan Studies (IFIMES) from Ljubljana Bakhatyar Aljaf and Zijad Bećirović today received the Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers Sadik Ahmetović.

During the lengthy conversation they exchanged views on the current events in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the West Balkans region and devoted special attention to the process of Bosnia and Herzegovina's accession to the European Union and NATO.

IFIMES directors presented the activities of the Institute and its projects carried out in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the West Balkans this year, where the Institute is especially active on the projects related to fighting organised crime and corruption which have a direct effect on the security of the countries in the region. They stressed the importance of The Hague International War Crimes Tribunal and its rulings related to Bosnia and Herzegovina which will be a key factor for the inevitable revision of the present Dayton Peace Agreement.

IFIMES directors commended Minister Ahmetović for his activities and contribution to strengthening the security in the region and especially in Bosnia and Herzegovina which has become one of the safest countries in the region. At the end of talks IFIMES directors invited Minister Ahmetović to be a guest lecturer at the Institute. Minister Ahmetović accepted the invitation with pleasure.
