IFIMES Director Bećirović with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro

 

LJUBLJANA/PODGORICA, 28 Avgust 2025Director of the International Institute for Middle-East and Balkan Studies(IFIMES)[1], Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zijad Bećirović, met today with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, Ervin Ibrahimović, M.A..

At the meeting, which took place in a friendly and constructive atmosphere, discussions were held on the current political and security situation in the Western Balkans region, Montenegro's role in the process of European integration, and the strengthening of regional cooperation. Special attention was paid to the possibilities for improving bilateral relations between Montenegro and international academic and research institutions, as well as cooperation in joint projects aimed at promoting peace, stability and sustainable development.

Director Bećirović emphasized the importance of dialogue, mutual understanding and the role of scientific research institutions, i.e. civil society, in building bridges between countries and people. He particularly highlighted the role and political courage of Minister Ibrahimović, who, as the leader of the Bosniak Party, entered the government of Montenegro and further contributed to its inclusion and the acceleration of Montenegro's European path. 

Minister Ibrahimović expressed the readiness of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro to support initiatives that contribute to strengthening regional integration and consolidating European values, and contribute to the establishment of lasting peace and long-term stability.

At the end, minister Ibrahimović and director Bećirović agreed to continue communication and cooperation through concrete projects of common interest, which will further consolidate and promote Montenegro in the wider European area.
