CROATIAN BORDER AND THE EUROPEAN FUTURE OF THE WEST BALKANS

You are kindly invited to attend the MEP evening entitled:

“CROATIAN BORDER AND THE EUROPEAN FUTURE OF THE WEST BALKANS”

which will be held on Tuesday, 27 October at 18.00 h in the white hall of Šmarješke Toplice spa resort.

The Slovenian-Croatian border issue has stirred up many tensions in the domestic and European circles. Following the change at the top of Croatian government the passions have calmed down and the moment has come for both prime ministers to make a rational agreement. After a period of very tense relations both states are now about to sign the arbitration agreement which will eventually lead to the resolution of the border issue and lay down the exit to the high seas which is of great importance for Slovenia.

The guests at the MEP evening will be Member of the European Parliament Jelko Kacin and Director of theInternational Institute for Middle-East and Balkan Studies (IFIMES) in Ljubljana Zijad Bećirović. They will talk about the consequences of signing the arbitration agreement, announced referendum in Slovenia, Croatia’s progress on the way to its EU accession and how this will affect the European integration of other West Balkan states. The discussion will be moderated by Mr. Bećirović..
