Turkish parliamentarians visited IFIMES

LJUBLJANA, 6 June 2013 - Directors of the International Institute for Middle-East and Balkan Studies (IFIMES) from Ljubljana, Bakhtyar Aljaf and Zijad Bećirović, received the representatives in the National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey Dr. Ercan Candan and Ali Ihsan Köktürka accompanied by Turkish Ambassador to the Republic of Slovenia Serre Kaleli.

In the long conversation, the parties exchanged views on current events in Slovenia and the Western Balkans, the Middle East and the importance of Turkey's membership in the EU and Turkey's importance for the EU. Slovenia and Turkey have signed a strategic cooperation agreement, which is an opportunity to strengthen economic cooperation. The entry of Turkish banks in banking and logistics sector would create additional confidence for the coming of other Turkish investors.

Directors presented the activities of the institute and projects of this year in the Middle East and the Balkans, with emphasis on Turkey.
