The Novi Liber publishing house from Zagreb has recently published a book by Amir Muharemi with the original title Turkey: An Introduction to the History, Domestic and Foreign Policy. The book contains an insight into the general understanding of Turkey, a presentation of the history of the state and its nation, an introduction to domestic and foreign policy and an analysis of the geopolitical position of this important country.

The author Amir Muharemi was the former Chief of Staff at the Office of the President of the Republic of Croatia Stjepan Mesić as well as the former Croatian ambassador to Turkey. He is currently the Consul General of the Republic of Croatia in Istanbul. Ambassador Muharemi is one of the best connoisseurs of modern Turkish political history. In his book he explores Turkey's history from as early as the 6th century till the present days. He devotes special attention to the present situation in Turkey marked by the efforts of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Justice and Development Party (AKP) to open the door widely to Islamist influence in Turkish society while at the same time regaining Turkey's historical position as one of the strongest powers in the world. In order to be able to approach such a complex and broad subject as Turkish history in a simple, competent and engaging way it is necessary to understand all the circumstances affecting the ups and downs that have marked the political past of this great nation. It is this thorough understanding that brings out the real value of Muharemi's book.

Besides the author the book will be presented by:

- Stjepan Mesić, former President of the Republic of Croatia

- Prof. Dr. Ernest Petrič, President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia, former Slovenian ambassador and an expert on international law and international relations

- Budimir Lončar, the last Foreign Minister of SFRY and the doyen of diplomacy and international relations

- Jelko Kacin, MEP, Vice-Chair of the EP Delegation for South-East Europe and member of the Friends of Turkey group in the European Parliament
