In the framework of the "Slovenia and the EU" lecture cycle,

the International Institute for Middle-East and Balkan Studies (IFIMES)

invites You kindly to take part at the lecture delivered by

Chairman of the Assembly for the Republic

Dr. Gregor Virant

entitled

HOW CAN SLOVENIA TAKE A TURN FOR THE BETTER?

which will be held on Monday, 27 June 2011 at 16.00 h
in the Auditorium of Center Evropa at Dalmatinova 4 in Ljubljana.

Slovenia is about to mark the 20th anniversary of independence. This is an opportunity to reflect on the achievements made and to take a look into the future. Chairman of the Assembly for the Republic Dr. Gregor Virant will talk about the possibilities for the better future of Slovenia. He will also speak about other current events in Slovenia.

Dr. Virant is one of the most popular public figures in Slovenia. As Public Administration Minister of the previous government he launched a thorough public administration reform in Slovenia which included its modernisation and rationalisation. Together with a group of public personalities not belonging to any political party he recently made an initiative for early elections thereby expressing concern with the situation in Slovenia.

The lecture will be delivered in the Slovenian language and will be followed by a discussion with the guest lecturer which will be moderated by Zijad Bećirović and Bakhatyar Aljaf, during which the participants will be invited to ask questions.

Attendance is free of charge. Please confirm your participation at telephone number (01) 430 15 33 or at ifimes@ifimes.org .
