entitled

SLOVENIA – CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS

by

Dr. Boštjan Jazbec

Governor of the Bank of Slovenia

which will take place on Tuesday, 22 October 2013 at 16.30 h

in the “Grad” hall of Hotel Lev (13th floor) at Vošnjakova 1, Ljubljana.

Governor of the Bank of Slovenia Dr. Boštjan Jazbec will talk about the challenges that Slovenia is facing in searching for the solutions to exit from the current financial crisis.

Dr. Jazbec has gained rich international experience in the field of banking as a senior adviser to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Kosovo and Suriname. He has also cooperated with the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. He served on the governing board of the Bank of Slovenia between 2003 and 2008 and became its Governor in summer this year. He is an associate professor at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Ljubljana and at the American University in Kosovo, Prishtina.

The new Governor took over the management of the Bank of Slovenia in an extremely difficult time. He is expected to carry out the restructuring of the banking system and to introduce an efficient financial control together with competent state institutions. As a special challenge he has stressed the introduction of a single supervisor for the European banking system, since the role of the Bank of Slovenia will then increase due to its power to participate in the decision-making, as was the case when Slovenia joined the euro zone.

The lecture will be delivered in the Slovenian language and will be followed by a discussion with the guest lecturer which will be moderated by

Zijad Bećirović and Bakhatyar Aljaf.
